The Hospital Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of a strategy for the pharmacy department in line with Busamed Pharmacy Division's strategic themes and that of the Hospital.


The incumbent will further manage all related pharmacy services and activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the Busamed Group.

This will include (not limited to) the provision of medication and supplementary services to patients and other stakeholders. The Pharmacist will also assume responsibility for meeting patients' needs in a responsible, satisfactory, and cost-effective manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Manage the pharmacy financials & understand the healthcare business's financial fundamentals.
  • Manage all aspects of the retail pharmacy business including optimizing prescription & front shop sales.
  • Management of patient pharmaceutical care in the hospital in hospital & retail pharmacy environments.
  • Ensure effective, clear, & direct communication with all stakeholders regarding pharmacyrelated matters (Doctors, Suppliers, Internal colleagues/departments, & external peers).
  • Ensure that the pharmaceutical standards, quality assurance & risk management are maintained.
  • Leverage appropriate internal & external channels to ensure the urgent filling of critical vacancies with a specific emphasis on Pharmacist positions.
  • Plan, coordinate, & execute the stocktake, analyze the results, & present improvement plans.
  • Assume licensing for regulatory requirements compliance with all appropriate standards.
  • Coordinate staff activities to ensure the smooth running of the pharmacy & achieve company goals.
  • Liaise with relevant management to restock purchases.
  • Participate in callout roaster & respond to callout requests as per company procedures.
  • Ensure stock management is appropriately captured on the relevant software.
  • Facilitate quick receipt of consignment invoices.
  • Dispensing of all prescriptions for in & outpatients
  • Supply & control of ward stocks

EDUCATION:

  • B Pharm. Degree or Dip Pharm
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Customeroriented with exceptional interpersonal skills and high working standards
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of Medical Aids
  • Senior or management Experience in a Private Hospital Pharmacy

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced computer skills must be accurate & pay attention to details.
  • SAP knowledge
  • Financial analytical skills
  • Sound knowledge of costs & cost containment (incl. economic use of stock & accurate charging of items)
