About the position:


As a member of the internal audit team, you will have to comply with the requirements of the Internal audit charter, the code of ethics, and perform work which is consistent with The Institute of Internal Auditors International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards).

The definition of internal audit explains the main role and reason for the department:

  • "Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organisation's operations. It helps an organisation accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes."_


You will be based at the Head office building, majority (roughly 95%) of your time will however be spent at retail stores.

You will only report to Head office for meetings.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct internal audits at various businesses independently and in a team
  • Carry out other internal audit activities as may be necessary for the successful execution of the audit plan
  • Identify weaknesses in procedures, systems and internal controls and make recommendations on how to improve the internal controls and governance processes
  • Facilitate the implementation of recommendations made
  • Perform stocktake audits at various branches/factories/divisions
  • Carry out adhoc or special investigations to detect fraud and theft of the organisations assets.
  • Objectively review a branch/divisions business processes and risks, and evaluate the efficiency of risk management procedures that are currently in place
  • Carry out consulting engagements in operational areas with high impact, such as warehousing principles, stock control, cash management etc and ensure sustainable improvements with constant reinforcement.
  • Ensure that the organisation is complying with relevant laws and regulations

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Matric
  • BCom Internal audit/ BTech Internal audit or similar qualification (Studying towards CIA beneficial)
  • Strong retail background (23 years experience)
  • Valid drivers license and own vehicle (Eligible for a company vehicle and fuel card after 3 months)
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office (SAP will be beneficial but not required)
  • Diligent and able to pay great attention to detail
  • Deadline driven
  • Excellent analytical skills must grasp the significance of seemingly minor or small details
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Sound independent judgement
High level of integrity, as this establishes trust and provides the basis for reliance on your work
