POSITION PURPOSE


The primary responsibilities are to assist with the assembling and general work of a wide variety of mechanical units at workstations from engineering.

Work involves general factory work as well as interrelated subassemblies and option packages, which must be sequenced for final assembly of the entire unit.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS - Must have proven ability to**:

  • use a wide range of hand/power tools, such as electrical drills and grinders and air impact guns
- read drawings and measuring devices
- use simple math and basic handheld measuring tools
- understand on-the-job process safety awareness and training methods.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric preferable
  • Previous manufacturing experience in metal industry is required (1 year at least)

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist with general work within a metal manufacturing plant
  • Identify parts
  • Assist with the sealing of products
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
  • This may involve the cutting, bending, stacking, assembly and cleaning of products to specifications.
  • Adherence to BAC House Rules and Health & Safety standards.
  • Adherence to Housekeeping Rules and BAC Excellence Program for organizational continuous improvement

WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment includes office, plant production floor, and outside exposed to elements. Temperatures fluctuate within the full range of exterior climates. Physical activity required includes walking and standing about seventy percent of the time. Occasional lifting up to 15kg and some bending, stooping, and climbing required. Capable of working from ladders up to 20 feet in height and from time-to-time in confined spaces.

The noise level in the work environment is usually high and hearing protection is required. Eye protection, gloves, hearing protection and safety shoes must be worn at all times. Good plant safety practices will be required.
