We are on the hunt for Data Architect reporting to the Architecture Manager.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and implementing an overall organizational data strategy that is in line with business processes. The strategy includes data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systems
  • Identifying data sources, both internal and external, and working out a plan for data management that is aligned with organizational data strategy
  • Coordinating and collaborating with crossfunctional teams, stakeholders and vendors for the smooth functioning of the enterprise data system
  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams
  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems
  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
  • Improve system performance by monitoring, conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features
  • Defining and managing the flow of data
  • Integrating technical functionality, ensuring data accessibility, accuracy, and security
  • Conducting a continuous audit of data management system performance
  • Define security and backup procedures
  • Provide Data Architecture (DA) support for the Data Engineering team.
  • Strong documentation of DA for new data sources, metadata, and productionized information flow
  • Define DA for the Data Science teams and participate in review and walkthrough sessions for model fit.
  • Assist with the definition of custom meta data models for ELT/ETL
  • Define data mapping and transformation rules between source and data warehouse.
  • Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations
  • Coordinate with the data science department to identify future needs and requirement

Technical skills core:

  • Documentation using Confluence/Wiki
  • Solution design and system analysis
  • Data profiling
  • Strong communicator verbally and in writing
  • Expert database knowledge in SQL
  • Modern data warehouse design skills
  • Exceptional data modelling skills i.e., physical, dimensional, and relational 3N forms.
  • DevOps/DataOps and CI/CD experience

What you'll need

  • BSc Computer Science, BCom Informatics, Engineering or similar, preference is a bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • 3+ years of handson relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience (using RDBMS, NoSQL, and ETL)
  • Experience working with AWS
  • Strong knowledge of database structure systems and data mining
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Selfstarter
  • A passion for data and documentation of solutions
  • Strong analytical and critical thinker
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment and balance multiple priorities.
  • A team player who can work alone when required and without supervision.

While not required, it'll probably help if you have some knowledge of fintech, and an interest in entrepreneurship and startups would be beneficial.

But don't worry, there's no need to be a unicorn as we'll offer onboarding assistance.
