Our client, an upmarket hotel and conference center in Pretoria has a vacancy for an experienced Plumber to join their team. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Description:

The main responsibility of this position is to install, maintain and repair pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems. Inspects drainage and other plumbing systems for compliance with local and national regulations.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures such as sinks, toilets,
  • taps and geysers
  • Unblocking and maintaining of all drainpipes
  • Installing of pumps and fittings
  • Actioning of preventative maintenance
  • To ensure clean water plant is always in optimal condition
  • Assisting Maintenance team with repairs and breakdowns where needed
  • Spot checks on inspected arrival rooms
  • Daily inspections on hot water systems (boilers)
  • Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in
  • installing and repairing plumbing
  • Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
  • Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair
  • Chooses plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building
  • Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes
  • Writes report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken
  • Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts

Educational Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Plumbing Trade Test essential

Experience and Skills Required:

  • 3 years experience in Plumbing
  • 1 Year in a hotel environment essential
  • Working knowledge of the following preferred: Plumbing, electrical, water filtration and general maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Guest oriented approach
