Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license & own reliable transportation.
  • Computer literate.
  • Own cell phone.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Carpentry qualification at a vocational school or carpentry apprenticeship will be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in shop fitting, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong carpentry and joinery skills, including the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of building materials, hardware components, and installation techniques.
  • Comply with all company and governmental safety guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Preparation:

  • Review project plans and specifications to understand installation requirements.
  • Prepare work areas by clearing debris, ensuring access to utilities, and protecting surrounding surfaces.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other trades to schedule installation activities.

Fixture and Fitting Installation:

  • Assemble and install shelving units, display cabinets, counters, and other fixtures according to design drawings and layouts.
  • Mount signage, lighting fixtures, and decorative elements as required.
  • Ensure precise measurements and alignment of fixtures to achieve a professional finish.

Carpentry and Joinery:

  • Perform carpentry and joinery tasks to customize fixtures and fittings to fit specific spaces.
  • Cut, shape, and finish wood materials to create bespoke elements such as display stands, partitions, and trim.
  • Utilize woodworking tools and techniques to achieve highquality craftsmanship.

Hardware and Component Installation:

  • Install hardware components such as hinges, handles, locks, and drawer slides on fixtures and fittings.
  • Mount electrical outlets, switches, and wiring for lighting and signage installations.
  • Connect plumbing fixtures and fittings if required for water supply or drainage.

Finishing and Detailing:

  • Add decorative elements and trim to enhance the aesthetic appeal of installations.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct quality inspections during and after installation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify and rectify any defects or deficiencies in workmanship or materials.
  • Verify that installations meet safety standards and building codes.

Client Interaction and Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other team members to coordinate installation activities.
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide updates on project progress and seek feedback to ensure client satisfaction.

R15 000,00 - R18 000,00 per month
