KEY PURPOSE OF JOB
Product development and manufacturing aerospace engineering company in Somerset West has a permanent position for a technical writer to take responsibility for writing technical documentation
- on various projects while working within a multidisciplinary team.

KEY TASKS

  • Writes and edits technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals.
  • Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.
  • Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.
  • Meets with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes.
  • Research product samples to fully understand the products.
  • Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
  • Ability to deliver content on time and to specification in a fastpaced, constantly changing environment.
  • Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.
  • Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
  • Gathers feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to improve technical documents.
  • Ensuring corporate brand messages are represented correctly and communicated properly.
  • Ensure that documents follow quality requirements and adhere to suitable standards.
  • Reviews documents created by engineering to ensure it suits all requirements.
  • Attends customer meetings and compiles minutes of meetings.
Other ad-hoc duties as required by company.

PREREQUISITES

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field from a recognized institution.

Experience:

  • 3 Years of technical writing experience, preferable in engineering environment
  • 3 Years of Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text.
  • 3 Years of Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience in writing and editing technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals.
  • Basic hardware and software proficiency we value the ability to navigate software systems while also being able to turn a screwdriver.
