RPO Recruitment is currently hiring for the position of Sustainable Development Manager on behalf of our client, a leading company in the sustainable energy sector.
As the Sustainable Development Manager, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to ensure sustainable practices across the organization.
Responsibilities include overseeing the development and execution of sustainability initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders to drive sustainable innovations, and monitoring the company's environmental and social performance.
You will also be responsible for managing relationships with external organizations and promoting sustainability initiatives internally and externally.The ideal candidate should have a strong background in sustainable development, experience in project management, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Sustainable Development strategies and programsMonitor and evaluate the impact of Sustainable Development on the company and its processesIdentify opportunities for improvement and implement themImplement Sustainable Development monitoring and control systemsCompile scope of work and tender specifications for identified activities to be placed on tenderEnsure compliance with Sustainable Development regulations and standardsParticipate in litigation and resolve Sustainable Developmental issuesAnalyze data and produce reports and recommendationsDevelop strategies and action plans to promote Sustainable DevelopmentCommunicate with regulators, business partners, stakeholders, and industry stakeholdersOversee the development of procedures and processes related to Sustainable DevelopmentParticipate in awareness-raising activities related to sustainable developmentTrain and coach teams in Sustainable Development
Licence to Operate:
Ensures ongoing compliance with statutory SHE requirements for the maintenance of the mine licence to
operate by:
Your role in verifying compliance, advising line management, and assisting with implementing of new and existing SHE-related legislation and company rules is crucial to the company's ongoing complianceYour ensuring that prevention inspections are not just completed regularly, but thoroughly, and that proper records are meticulously maintainedEnsuring that accidents are investigated and relevant documentation completed accurately within acceptable time framesEmpowers line management by providing comprehensive support and expertise in incident investigation and reporting, including 9providing templates for incident reports, conducting root cause analysis, and offering guidance on corrective actions)
Department Management:
Manages staff and business partner performance by:
Setting performance standards and goalsMonitor and appraise performance against standards and agreed goals; take corrective action as requiredIdentifying training needs and arranging training to enhance performanceCollaborating with HR in the recruitment and selection of staffApply the appropriate HR procedures in the process of managing staff
Prepares (and works within) SHE budgets by:
Submit and motivate budgetary requirements and finalise with the Chief Financial OfficerReport on cost variances and devise ways of minimising negative deviations
Provides technical leadership within this functional area by:
Ensure legal compliance with standards for safety, security, health/hygiene, risk, and environmental protection functionsManage and coordinate the team, delivering weekly and monthly actions and reportsEstablish and enforce SHE standards by developing an SHE communication strategy for the company at all staff levels (to include written information, "toolbox talks," and management updates)Providing Safety, Health and Environmental expertise to management
Risk
Encourage and support a risk management culture by:
Developing and reporting on risk mitigation strategies and plansOverseeing and managing the implementation of risk proceduresImplement and maintain corporate standards for sustainability management and reporting, including the production of the annual Sustainability Report
Safety
Ensure ZERO HARM to employees within the areas of influence and ZERO repeat DMRE Safety Audit findings by:Working with the Safety Superintendent to establish safe working environments and safe work practicesEnsuring proper induction of new stores employees and periodic refresher training as requiredFollow up on DMRE safety audit findings and eradicate control system weaknesses

Requirements
Bachelors Degree Hons / National Higher Diploma in Safety Management (NQF Level 7) and 8 to 10 years' experienceTraining in:Incident investigationCOMSOC 1 & 2Risk AssessmentManagement or leadership qualification will be advantageous
