Job Overview:

Prepare the sandblasting bays, chambers, portable units, booths or open areas to blast a variety of surfaces finishes

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare the sandblasting bays, chambers, portable units, booths or open areas to blast a variety of surfaces finishes
• Setup the blast with sand, shot or grit
• Strip and prepare various surfaces for shotblasting
• Operate and maintain different sandblast equipment to obtain different anchor profiles by manually abrading surfaces of different components with fine sand to remove adhering scale, debris, grease, oil and dirt and inspection of finished work
• Perform timed traverse or repeat adjustments of turnable movements (forward, swivel and reverse) on large metal pieces
• Daily maintenance and operation of fresh air feed hoods and safety equipment
• Daily maintenance and replacement of blasting nozzles, hoses and filtration systems
• Review all work performed to ensure compliance with all safety hazards
• Adhere to safety practices related to ventilation of confined spaces
• Daily transportation of goods within the business unit using a forklift etc.,
• May use a wire brush to manually remove grit

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have experience of working in a heavy manufacturing industry
• Must be proficient in the use and maintenance of power tools such as grinders, sanders, needle guns etc.
• Forklift and overhead crane will be an advantage
• Good communication and organisation skills
