Carry out activities in the process cooking area, ensuring the highest quality product is pre-weighed, packed, labelled, palletised and cooked for production; to ensure customer requirements are met.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills e.g. English & Maths Matric equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • At least 1 year's experience in a similar handson role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

PRODUCT PROCESSING:

Descriptor:

  • Collect documents from the last shift and analyse challenges encountered.
  • Check if correct recipe is loaded on Scarda (on the cooker screen).
  • Collect ingredients from preweigh using palate jerk, checking if they are correct.
  • Follow recipes accurately, dispense and weigh out raw ingredients and understand the procedures in the dry, wet ingredient rooms and in the cookers/cooking platform.
  • Set up, run and operate specified cooking process lines and associated equipment within the cooking processing area, without supervision.
  • Check that the pots are clean, following procedures to avoid contamination.
  • Strip and clean specific process lines and associated equipment.
  • Route product to the correct cooking lines.
  • Fault find and report any breakdowns on the lines, carrying out basic repair / maintenance requirements.
  • Correctly carry out any required quality checks and constantly monitor the quality of the product being made.
  • Accurately complete all necessary Production and Quality documentation.
  • Utilise the company's manufacturing operations system, to ensure the accuracy of cooking/cooked product.
  • Assist with the training of other employees as necessary.
  • Scan record production information.
  • Deliver samples at the lab for quality assurance.
  • Transfer product to feeder once QA approves.
  • Clean area of work in accordance with required standards.
  • Liaise with colleagues, ensuring continuity of OEE and carrying out effective handovers both verbally and in writing to the next shift.
  • Ensure the correct receipt as per cooking plan is followed.
  • Ensure each ingredient is scanned with PDA scanner to the cooking pot
  • Attend the prestart meetings 10 min before the shift start
  • Report any deviations of cooking to the cooking team leader
  • Follow the Batch weighing system by ensuring no mixed ingredients are used on the cooking

HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT:

Descriptor:

  • Adhere at ALL times to the Standard Operating Procedures, carrying out duties following Good Manufacturing Practices, 5S practices and being responsible for hygiene and housekeeping in & around the work area.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring adherence to PPE regulations while working within a safe working environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION:

  • Basic Food Hygiene certificate is an advantage

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working to recipes/procedures
  • Experience of working within a food preparation environment is an advantage
