Shariah Advisor

To provide Shariah advisory, assurance and oversight in terms of AAOIFI Shariah Standards as interpreted by the Shariah Supervisory Board.

• Prepares primary reports and submissions to the Shariah Board.
• Prepares draft agendas and minutes of Shariah meetings.
• Attends and provides input at Shariah meetings as and when required.

• Conducts primary research for the development of new products and for enhancement of existing products.
• Assists in project management of new products and enhancement of existing products and services.
• Assists in drafting and analysing legal agreements.
• Develops Shariah checklists, procedures and policies for the different products and services.
• Engages in ongoing research and gathers information and reports on new trends in the Islamic financial industry.
• Examines existing compilations of Islamic rulings (fatawa) and related research papers and prepares summary reports on findings to the bank.
• Prepares articles on contemporary issues related to Islamic banking and finance with a view to publish them on Newsletter and/ or External Media.

• Develops training material and provides training to employees.
• Provides guidance and support to consultants on Shariah related matters.
• Attends to client's Shariah related queries.
• Assists in all matters related to Shariah compliance of Al Baraka Bank, mutual funds and any other investments submitted to Shariah department for review and/or guidance.

• An advanced qualification in Shariah Law and relevant qualification in conventional law and/or finance will be required to meet the requirements of the role at the highest level of competence.
