A leading, African Investment company is looking for an Investment Manager to join their team.

The Investment Manager will provide support to the Investment Team, both in the organization and execution of transactions, as well as in the monitoring of the Investment portfolio.

The incumbent will be required to prepare, analyze, explain and model historical and projected financial data relating to the portfolio.

The Investment Manager reports to the Investment Directors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understanding of banking, financial services and fintech companies.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis, review financial statements and valuations on banks, nonbanks, and fintech companies.
  • Ability to read bank board packs and prepare reports on findings.
  • Ability to interact with investee management.
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to due diligence assignments.
  • Assists in the transaction cycle from identification to negotiations and closing and monitoring the investment thereafter.
  • Assist in the development of more junior team members.
  • Participate to grow in the investment team and assume a more senior role in the future.
  • Take overall responsibility for the quarterly reporting of allocated portfolio investments.

Qualifications, experience, and skills:

  • Honors Financial degree or equivalent.
  • 7+ years' experience with Private Equity, Investment Banking (M&A Corporate Finance or Project finance), at a "Big Four" auditing firm, Management Consultant or similar.
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Financial acumen demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles and identify inconsistencies in data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical, pragmatic, and creative approach to problemsolving.
  • Desktop research capability.
  • Technically proficient in Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint essential.
  • Project / Process management.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
  • Commercial orientation with attention to detail.
  • Team player.
