Lecturer qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum requirements:_
  • PhD in Social Work or related field or awaiting results.
  • Knowledge and experience in Social Development or Occupational Social Work and or School Social Work
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions
  • Traceable track record of teaching experience.
  • A minimum of five years' work experience in social work practice in a social service agency or organisation
  • Research outputs appropriate to the post level at least two publications in peerreviewed journals.
  • Research supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Field work supervision

Responsibilities:

  • Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Coordinate field practicum at different levels of study.
  • Supervise Fourth year, Masters and PhD research students;
  • Conduct research at a nationally and internationally competitive level.
  • Participate in curriculum design and development of undergraduate modules as required.
  • Conduct academic administration and other duties, as determined by the Head of Department.
  • Participate in the Department's strategic initiatives related to teaching, research, and community engagement.
  • To participate in Departmental and school committees

Associate Lecturer qualifications and requirements:

  • Masters in social work or related field and working towards PhD registration (proof of PhD registration will be a requirement).
  • Knowledge and (experience an advantage) in school social work and has conducted research in context of basic education schools.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions

  • Minimum of three years experience in social work practice in a social service agency or organisation.
  • Teaching experience (an added advantage);
  • Proven research ability as evidenced by peerreviewed publications, conference presentations or research reports.
