Our national client in the engineering industry, requires your qualification and experience as a Qualified Trade Tested Mechanical Fitter with a minimum of 5 year's experience for a shutdown project at Astron Refinery in Milnerton, Cape Town.

Their preference will be Fitters who have worked on reciprocating compressors (piston compressor).

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:To carry out repairs, maintenance and operation in a refinery / petrochemical environment during the shutdown period.

POSITION REPORTS TO:
Engineering Supervisor

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • General machine maintenance in a refinery/petrochemical environment
  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Continuously monitor the working environment responsible area and report any abnormalities found.
  • Report all at risk behaviors and unsafe conditions to the line manager
  • Comply to all OSH ACT requirements.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Comment, discuss and improve upon task elements within the maintenance plan.
  • Identify, report and action any irregularities
  • Ensure that the mechanical equipment in the related section/s are well maintained and safe to operate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Service

  • Work Ownership / Pride
  • Trade test qualified mechanical fitter
  • Experience on reciprocating compressor will be an advantage
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment (vernier and micrometer)
  • Own tools and toolbox as per attached list.

Communication

  • Communication written & oral.
  • Active listening

Problem Solving/Decision Making

  • Problem Solving enquiring mind, lateral thinking.

Experience, Qualifications and other requirements specific to the role

  • Trade Tested
  • 5 yrs experience in refinery, petrochemical and engineering industry


 Artisan Minimum N
  • Physically able
  • Take instructions / communicate in English
  • Willing to make a contribution as a member of the operations team
  • Ability to work shifts and overtime as and when operationally required


Please note that this is an outsourced position so you will be employed by us as the agency and assigned to the client for the duration of your 4 week contract.

Please note that the shutdown is envisaged for 4 weeks but it could be completed sooner and that your contract will be linked to the project end / completion date.

R90,00 - R110,00 per hour
