Job Overview:

This position will be required to manage the manufacturing of Compressorised refrigeration racks and packs.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Effectively coordinating and managing production effectiveness to ensure efficient and effective throughput in line with customer requirements
  • Overall responsibility and authority to ensure that the master production schedule is achieved
  • Drive world class manufacturing and quality standards

Responsibilities:

  • Production planning:
  • Ensure production priorities & targets are well understood and implemented
  • Supervision of the CP master production schedule (MPS)
  • Drive the achievement of the MPS at all levels, including liaising with sales team in the event of changed delivery dates
  • Production management:
  • Manage and assist the CP Supervisor in achieving production targets in a multishift environment
  • Identify production needs and action accordingly
  • Identify and justify resource requirements in line with fluctuating demand
  • Ensure adequate shift communication, effectiveness, and handover
  • Reallocate resources to balance capacity demand for throughput requirement
  • Identify and justify overtime needs
  • Identify and measure KPIs to measure production performance
  • Perform Bill of Materials rollups to enable calculation of department Gross-Profit (GP) margins
  • Material control:
  • Manage and assist CP Supervisor with department stores & inventory
  • Ensure accurate and well managed WIP stock take
  • Manage and adjust KANBAN levels to support requirements
  • Liaise with buyers to ensure any major supply shortages are identified and addressed
  • Liaise with dispatch regarding delivery schedules
  • Continuous improvements:
  • Identify bottlenecks and resolve accordingly to improve production efficiency and throughput
  • Drive continuous improvement and process improvement projects within the department
  • Drive and implement world class manufacturing methodologies
  • Understand and reduce production costs
  • Ensure equipment needs are addressed and resolved
  • Work with Engineering office to ensure effective assistance as required
  • Lead and manage the implementation of new product development and product testing
  • HR and training:
  • Build a high performing, highly engaged team
  • Identify and implement training needs
  • Manage HR & Disciplinary issues as required
  • Quality, Health & safety:
  • Responsible for HSE in rack production areas
  • Assist QC officer in resolving Customer Complaints, Non-Conformances and implementing/revising QMS procedures
  • Ensure Health and Safety is well maintained and adhered to
  • Ensure the ISO9001 accreditation is maintained

Requirements:

  • Experience in production management / supervision in a world class manufacturing environment is required with a minimum of 810 years' experience
  • A formal production management and/or technical qualification is preferred
  • Refrigeration Engineering experience will be advantageous
  • Experience in the manufacturing of CO2 transcritical machines will be advantageous
  • The individual must have welldeveloped planning and organizational skills, as well as good people and negotiation skills
  • A good understanding of all aspects of a business, in terms of operations, production, engineering & design, finance, sales & marketing, HR and procurement is required
  • The individual must be able to focus on results and will be required to conduct handson supervision and control
  • A commitment to quality and Occupational Health and Safety requirements is expected
