Microbiology conducts product micro analysis, which identifies hygienic conditions and potential pathogenic bacteria in manufacturing and packaging areas. Guide the production plants, packaging plant and personnel on maintaining pathogenic free conditions in relation to product specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities

Product analysis evaluation

  • Evaluate the effective handling of analysis from the Micro Technicians through ensuring that results reproduceability and accuracy of output thereof is acceptable to standards of microbiology in avoiding confirmatory repeats at a cost.
  • Initiate repeats analysis where reproduceability, purity and accuracy is obviously in collision to duplicate/triplicate output analysis anticipated projections; in so preventing product recalls or returns at a cost to the business.
  • Weigh and determine the accuracy of results through ensuring freedom from permissible cross contamination pointers from the colony morphology bracket.
  • Ensure that bacterial identifications are done timeous and appropriate from preenrichment stage, selective enumeration, presumptive stage and confirmation level for accurate determination thereby impacting product grading and sales costs (e.g. Pharm, Food, Industrial, Concessionary, Scrap or Rework).
  • Ensure that annual analysis of the different types of products are analyzed through ISO Standard requirements for generating results compatibility state of the products produced.
Analysis outcome recordings

  • Ensure that recordings are correct and far from what can be easily termed food fraud.
  • Scheduled replacement of stocks and reagents.
Maintain GLP principles. Deputizing for senior Microbiologist

  • Ensure that activities in the laboratory from sample sorting, media preparations, apparatus sterilization, reagents storing and housekeeping are done in a principled manner for producing viable results on product quality and food safety, and also in a safe manner.

Salary:
R10, R13,000.00 per month
