Our client is looking for an experienced and skilled Geometric Road Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. As a Senior Geometric Road Design Engineer (PrENG), you will play a vital role in the design and development of road infrastructure projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your expertise in geometric road design to develop innovative and efficient road layouts.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met within the specified deadlines.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of project requirements, considering factors such as traffic flow, safety, and environmental impact.
  • Prepare detailed design plans, including cross-sections, profiles, and alignments, using industry-standard software.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards throughout the design process.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government authorities and contractors, to address design-related queries and challenges.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates for road design projects.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in geometric road design.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of design activities, calculations, and drawings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc/BEng/BTech in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in geometric road design projects.
  • Proficient in using industry-standard software for road design, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Bentley MX.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and design standards, including South African road design codes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex engineering issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate and high-quality design plans.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering road design projects on time and within budget.
