Introduction

The Quantity Surveyor will manage all cost and procurement aspects of hard, soft landscaping, and play projects. The role involves estimating, budgeting, contract administration, and value engineering to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. A strong understanding of the landscaping industry and enthusiasm to learn and grow are essential.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage procurement, including bills of quantities, tender documents, and contractor bid evaluations.
• Monitor and control project costs from inception to final account.
• Assess, value, and reconcile customer accounts, including variations and change orders.
• Assess, value, and reconcile subcontractor and supplier accounts, including variations and change orders.
• Prepare financial spreadsheets (CVR, CTC) for operations to track materials and costs during construction.
• Administer construction contracts, including NEC, JCT, and bespoke landscape agreements.
• Ensure compliance with contracts, legislation, and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Produce monthly cost reports and forecasts to guide commercial decisions.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and site teams to maintain cost control and value delivery.
• Support risk management and provide advice on potential cost exposures.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• MRICS qualified or working toward chartered status (preferred).
• 3–5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, focused on landscaping or external works.
• Experience in residential, public realm, commercial, or infrastructure landscaping projects.
• Proficient in quantity surveying software such as CostX, Bluebeam, Excel, and CATO.
• Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, specifications, and market rates.
• Experienced in both pre- and post-contract quantity surveying duties.
• Understanding of civil engineering drawings, planting schedules, and landscape specifications.
