Medical degree
obtained outside Ireland
2-year internship
completed in South Africa
(after 1 July 2006)
At least 3 years' Family Medicine experience
post-internship
Postgrad rotations
in General Medicine & Paediatrics
(3+ months each)
Certificate of Good Standing
from your current regulator
Full driving licence
or plan to have car access soon after arriving
Experience that counts toward your 36 months of GP practice:
Full-time, independent patient care in a primary care setting
Managing, preventing, and following up acute & chronic conditions
Treating all age groups — from infants to older adults
Yes — cruise ship doctor experience counts
Experience that does not count:
Emergency Medicine
Walk-in GP clinics
Out-of-Hours services
Minor Injuries Units
Secondary locum GP work
