Internal Account Manager - Chemical Distribution
Job Purpose
The Internal Account Manager will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with existing customers, ensuring the efficient processing of orders, quotations, and queries. The role supports the External Account Managers, Product Managers and Business Development Managers by maintaining strong client communication, optimizing customer satisfaction, and contributing to sales growth through excellent service, coordination, and follow-up.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for customers, handling enquiries, quotations, and order follow-ups.
- Process sales orders accurately and ensure timely delivery in collaboration with logistics and operations teams.
- Maintain up-to-date customer information, pricing, and order history in the ERP/CRM system.
- Liaise with External Account Managers to support account development and client retention strategies.
- Coordinate with Product Managers regarding stock availability, lead times, and pricing updates.
- Monitor customer credit limits and assist with payment follow-ups in collaboration with finance.
- Handle customer complaints and escalate issues promptly for resolution.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts.
- Prepare and maintain accurate sales reports, forecasts, and performance tracking.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and SHEQ requirements.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities effectively, and take ownership of customer relationships from order to delivery. You combine a customer-centric mindset with sound commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Education
- Matric (Grade 12) essential.
- A tertiary qualification in Sales, Business Administration, or Chemistry (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in internal sales, customer service, or account management within a chemical distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of managing customer accounts and supporting field sales teams.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro, or similar).

- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- Numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Team player with a professional and positive attitude.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: R15 000,00 - R30 000,00 per month
