RCL believes in doing more We are passionate about our commitment to providing more food to more people more often. The recruitment team is on the hunt for a Despatch Clerk X 1 for our Benoni Bakery. This position will report to the Despatch Coordinator.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The successful incumbent will be responsible for verifying and maintaining records of incoming and outgoing goods for despatch. Supervise the loading of trucks timeously. Work hand in hand with the drivers.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all trucks are despatched timeously in the morning.
  • Arranging replacement of despatch staff where necessary.
  • Ensuring that the despatch team is wearing uniforms at all times.
  • Arrange internal distribution labour where necessary.
  • Ensure that the despatch recon document is completed daily
  • Maintaining prescribed records of goods received and despatched.
  • Enhance excellent customer service in the despatch department.
  • Ensure all data captured is correct.
  • Confirming returns is correct.
  • Oversee stock variances and report to management.
  • Ensure trucks are loaded on time.
  • Ensure department have enough shift change.
  • Ensure hand over take place during shift changes
  • Ensure correct quantities are received from production.
  • Verify that trucks meet safety and hygiene standards before departure and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and verify delivery notes, invoices, and POD (Proof of Delivery) documents and maintain accurate records for audits and stock reconciliation
  • Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels in the despatch area and report shortages or excesses and assist in cycle counts and stock audits.
  • Communication & Coordination: Liaise with production, sales, and logistics teams to resolve discrepancies and handle customer queries related to deliveries and returns.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve issues such as delayed trucks, incorrect loading, or damaged goods and escalate unresolved problems to the Despatch Coordinator.
  • Identify opportunities to improve despatch processes and reduce turnaround time and participate in training and development initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, ERP/WMS systems)
  • Organized and systems orientated
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter with ability to use own initiative
  • Strong communication skills across all levels
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Time management and prioritization skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Numerical skills for stock reconciliation
  • Knowledge of logistics and dispatch processes
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Customer service orientation
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Grade 12.
  • National Diploma in related field would be an added advantage
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an FMCG environment
