Project Manager

Assistance needed on a 6-month contract

The IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering technology projects across the organisation. This role ensures that IT initiatives are completed on time, within scope, and within budget, while meeting business requirements and quality standards. The Project Manager collaborates with technology teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to drive successful implementation of IT systems, applications, infrastructure, and digital solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Planning & Initiation

a) Manage scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.

b) Develop detailed project plans including timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements.

c) Identify dependencies, risks, and constraints to support accurate planning.

d) Facilitate project kick-off sessions and ensure alignment across teams.

2. Project Execution & Delivery

a) Lead day-to-day project activities and ensure successful delivery of IT initiatives.

b) Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, engineers, analysts, architects, and business users.

c) Monitor progress against project plans and adjust schedules as needed.

d) Ensure technical delivery aligns with architecture standards, security policies, and IT governance.

e) Manage system configurations, integrations, testing activities, and deployment plans.

3. Risk, Issue & Change Management

a) Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.

b) Drive mitigation strategies, escalation processes, and corrective actions.

c) Manage scope changes through structured change control processes.

d) Maintain detailed logs for risks, issues, and change requests.

4. Financial & Resource Management

a) Manage project budgets including forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.

b) Ensure optimal utilisation of internal and external project resources.

c) Support procurement processes including vendor selection, contract management, and commercial alignment.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

a) Develop and maintain strong relationships with IT and business stakeholders.

b) Provide regular status updates, dashboards, and project reporting to steering committees and leadership.

c) Facilitate workshops, technical discussions, and decision-making sessions.

d) Manage expectations and ensure stakeholders remain aligned with project goals.

6. Quality Assurance & Compliance

a) Ensure compliance with IT governance, security standards, and organisational policies.

b) Oversee testing cycles such as functional testing, UAT, integration testing, and performance testing.

c) Verify that deliverables meet quality standards and user acceptance criteria.

7. Vendor & Partner Management

a) Coordinate and manage external vendors, consultants, and service providers.

b) Evaluate vendor performance and ensure adherence to contractual deliverables.

c) Facilitate integration of partner solutions into the IT environment.

8. Go-Live, Transition & Post-Implementation Support

a) Plan and manage deployment, cutover, and go-live activities.

b) Ensure documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to operations/support teams.

c) Conduct post-implementation reviews and identify lessons learned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCY

a) Strong understanding of IT systems, software development lifecycles, cloud environments, and integration concepts.

b) Knowledge of data, security, networking, and infrastructure principles.

c) Ability to translate business requirements into technical project plans.
