About the Role:

This is a senior and highly autonomous financial professional role responsible for the end-to-end accounting, reporting, and operational management of client investment funds.

The Fund Controller is expected to act as a dedicated mentor to junior staff while maintaining proficiency in all technical and operational processes. Success in this position relies on strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting all internal and client deadlines.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full financial reporting cycle, including preparing and reviewing general ledger entries, financial statement workbooks, full financial statements, and key fund metrics such as IRR and management fees, using advanced Excel and reporting systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during external audits, coordinating requests, preparing audit documentation and confirmations, and supporting tax compliance through the review of core fund tax forms.
  • Oversee all capital activity, including the preparation and review of capital call and distribution notices, allocations, capital receipts tracking, reconciliations, and related bank wires, ensuring compliance with client policies and documentation standards.
  • Lead engagement teams and manage timelines and deliverables, while mentoring and training junior staff in technical processes, industry knowledge, and use of financial and reporting software.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified CA (SA)
  • 1 - 4 years of post-article experience.
  • Strong understanding of the venture capital/private equity industry.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet all internal and client deadlines.
  • Proficiency in financial software (GL/investor reporting) and Excel.
  • Experience or capacity to train and mentor junior staff on technical skills and industry concepts.
