The Challenge & Your Impact The platform has achieved significant product-market fit and is poised for exponential growth. The core challenge for the new Head of Technology is to evolve the current tech stack, team, and processes from a startup footing to a mature, highly scalable, and robust enterprise-grade system. You will be responsible for defining and executing the technology vision that will power this next phase of growth, ensuring the platform can handle increasing complexity, traffic, and feature velocity without sacrificing performance or security. Your impact will be measured by your ability to transform technology into the primary enabler of the company's long-term business strategy and market leadership.
Performance Objectives for Year One Success in this role will be defined by the achievement of the following key objectives within the first 12 months:
- Architect the Strategic Technology Roadmap: Within the first 90 days, conduct a comprehensive audit of the current technology stack, architecture, and team capabilities. Following this, develop and present a 2-3 year technology roadmap to the executive team that outlines the plan to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with the company's aggressive growth targets.
- Elevate Engineering Delivery & Execution: Within the first 6 months, refine and implement a scalable agile delivery framework across the engineering team. This new process should demonstrably improve project predictability, reduce technical debt, and increase the velocity of high-quality feature releases.
- Build and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Redesign the engineering team's structure and career development pathways to foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement. You will be expected to attract, hire, and onboard key technical talent while measurably increasing the engagement and skill level of the existing team.
- Strengthen Platform Security and Scalability: Lead the initiative to architect and implement enhanced security protocols and infrastructure improvements across the platform. The primary goal is to create a highly resilient and compliant system capable of supporting a 3x increase in user traffic and transaction volume over the next year.
- Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish a seamless and effective collaboration model between the technology team and other key departments, including Product, Data, and Operations. You will translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans, ensuring technology is a proactive partner in co-creating business solutions.
Profile for Success To achieve these objectives, you will need to have a track record of the following:
- Core Requirements:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role (e.g., Head of Engineering, CTO, VP Engineering) within a high-growth, fast-scaling technology company.
- Demonstrated Accomplishments:
- Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling complex, user-facing platforms, preferably on a major cloud service like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Evidence of having successfully built, scaled, and mentored high-performing engineering teams, transforming them into a strategic business asset.
- A history of leading the successful delivery of major technology projects in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Proven ability to think strategically and translate business goals into a coherent and executable technology vision.
