Job Description:

This is a full-time SAICA learnership/trainee contract based in Century City, Cape Town. As a SAICA Trainee Accountant, you will be exposed to a wide range of accounting, auditing, tax, and financial management functions. You will receive hands-on training from experienced professionals while completing your professional qualification. The programme is designed to develop your technical competency, professional skills, and practical experience as required by SAICA.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements.

  • Perform substantive testing, analytical reviews, and internal control evaluations.

  • Prepare working papers and supporting audit documentation.

  • Assist with monthly accounting tasks, including reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Support tax-related submissions such as VAT, PAYE, and income tax returns.

  • Conduct research on accounting and auditing issues as required.

  • Engage with clients professionally and maintain strong working relationships.

  • Adhere to firm policies, SAICA training requirements, and professional standards.

  • Participate in continuous training and development programmes.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Completed BCOM Accounting degree or equivalent qualification accredited by SAICA.

  • Eligibility to register for SAICA Articles in 2026.

  • Strong academic record.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and a willingness to learn.

  • South African Citizen.
