Job Title: IS Operator

Grade: P12

Purpose of the Role:

To operate a bottle forming machine in order to produce quality glass packaging containers.

Key Performance Areas:

• Operate and process control of the IS machine.
• Implement daily routines as prescribed by the business.
• Carry out swabbing of mould equipment at set intervals to lubricate tools, keep them running and minimise defects.
• Carry out bottle weight checks at set intervals.
• Conduct defect analysis (gauging and visual) and make necessary adjustments to maintain and improve quality.
• Maintain temperatures of mould equipment
• Carry out blanks, mould & finish changes, and record reason, therefore.
• Conduct root cause analysis
• Perform general housekeeping for designated areas, and for tools and storage area.
• Store tools/equipment in allocated positions in accordance with rules
• Assist with breakdown repairs.
• Participate in job changes on maintenance days.
• Hot end input
• Fix defects as per cold losses
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders at all times to maintain quality production.
• Change forming variables, tools, and delivery equipment.
• Record section jam ups, dead-plate/transfer covers, cleaning defects found on set checks and capture data on IAFIS.
• Clearing PPC Alarms
• Comply with Safety Rules

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Mantic (Grade 12) and;
• N3 Engineering preferably mechanical.

Experience:

• A minimum of 18 months glass forming experience.
• Computer literacy
