Key Responsibilities

This role is for an Actuarial student or nearly qualified Pricing Actuary to join our Segment pricing team based in Cape Town, working closely with our Australian office to provide support with reinsurance pricing and in-force profitability management for the Australian and New Zealand markets. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and communication skills.

Primary responsibilities for this role will be working with the Australian local pricing team

  • To price new reinsurance quotations for group and retail business
  • Building and improving pricing models
  • Supporting the repricing and monitoring of existing treaties
  • Pricing new products and evaluating new product development features
  • Supporting the maintenance of terms of trade

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Actuarial student with a minimum of 3 years experience
  • Experience in pricing of group or retail business or valuation experience
  • Prepared to work across multiple time zones
  • Highly collaborative in working style & approach
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills that enables them to summarise complex information

Desired:

  • Reinsurance pricing experience would be an advantage
  • Experience of Australian and / or New Zealand life insurance an advantage
  • Actuarial modelling skills (GGY Axis, Prophet, Moses or MoNet)
  • Coding skills in VBA, SQL, R or other statistical coding environments
  • An interest in analytics and modelling mortality/morbidity experience
