Our on-site bistro-style restaurant provides guests with a lovely food experience throughout the day — from hearty breakfasts to refined lunches and dinners — all prepared with care, creativity, and fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and reliable Cook/Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have formal culinary training, a strong understanding of bistro-style à la carte cuisine, and the ability to deliver consistently high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
This role requires a hands-on team player with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a genuine love for good food and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Assist in developing and updating seasonal menus and daily specials.
- Ensure food quality, freshness, and presentation meet WedgeView's standards.
- Set up and maintain stations with all necessary ingredients and equipment (mise en place).
- Ensure kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety compliance at all times.
- Manage stock rotation, storage, and portion control to minimise waste.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- Support smooth kitchen operations and maintain a positive, professional work environment.
Requirements
- Formal chef training (Chef School Diploma or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a restaurant, hotel, or guesthouse kitchen.
- Experience preparing both à la carte and plated breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
- Strong understanding of modern cooking and presentation techniques.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Able to manage a small kitchen team and lead by example.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
