Role Purpose

As a Junior RPG Developer, you will assist in the development and maintenance of RPG applications that support Momentum Investments' business operations. You will work under the guidance of senior developers and IT team members, learning best practices and contributing to the delivery of reliable RPG solutions.

Requirements

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or working towards completion).

  • 0–2 years of experience in RPG development or related programming experience.

  • Exposure to RPG IV and ILE RPG programming is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities

Role Outputs:

Application Maintenance & Support

  • Monitor and resolve issues in existing RPG applications.

  • Provide first-level support for RPG-related incidents and escalate when necessary.

Data Handling

  • Assist in creating and maintaining database files and queries (DB2 for i).

  • Support data integrity checks and simple data migration tasks.

Performance & Optimization

  • Learn and apply basic techniques for optimizing RPG programs.

  • Identify opportunities for minor improvements under guidance.

Security & Compliance

  • Follow company security standards when handling code and data.

  • Ensure compliance with internal coding and documentation policies.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate progress and challenges to senior developers.

  • Participate in daily stand-ups or team meetings.

Competencies

  • Basic knowledge of RPG programming languages (RPG IV, ILE RPG).

  • Willingness to learn database integration and application development best practices.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
