**Software Engineer (AI Models & API Development)

Location: Umhlanga / South Africa

Company: Mergemega**
Mergemega is building advanced AI systems for real-time customer acquisition. We are looking for a Software Engineer who can train AI models, build enterprise-grade APIs, and develop production-ready applications using modern technologies, including Vibe Coding platforms.

Role Overview
You will work across AI engineering, backend development, and full-stack web development. This includes model training, API architecture, internal tools, and scalable systems used by global businesses.

Key Responsibilities
Train, fine-tune, and deploy AI/LLM models.

Build APIs for enterprise clients and integrate them with internal systems.

Develop applications and tools using TypeScript, React, , and Python.

Implement secure, scalable data and model pipelines.

Architect and maintain databases and backend services.

Use Vibe Coding platforms for rapid prototype-to-production workflows.

Debug, optimize, and improve existing software across the stack.

Required Skills & Experience
Strong practical experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, React, , NPM, and

Ability to design scalable APIs and backend systems.

Proficiency with SQL or relational databases.

Experience training or integrating AI/LLM models.

Understanding of modern frontend architecture and component systems.

Ability to work with Vibe Coding platforms (or willingness to learn quickly).

Strong debugging, optimization, and systems-thinking ability.

Bonus Skills
(Not required, but advantageous)

Vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma).

Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Vercel).

Workflow automation, agents, or orchestration frameworks.

DevOps fundamentals (Docker, CI/CD).
