Guitar Teacher

This leading English-medium South African state Boys School has a vacancy for a part time, Guitar Teacher. This is a School Governing Body position with effect from 12 January 2026.

• B Mus (or higher) with subjects: Classical Guitar Practical Specialisation: Guitar; Didactics of Guitar Teaching and Aural Training
• Five (5) years of guitar teaching experience at all levels, is required
• Individual guitar teaching (Gr 8-12) is required
• Training of guitar ensemble/group is required
• Valid SACE registration will be required.
• Involvement as examiner/adjudicator in a guitar context is recommended
• Candidate must be able to teach in English

Main Responsibilities:

• Academic teaching: Grade 8 -12 individual classical (formal) guitar teaching (From beginner level to ABRSM Advanced Certificate level)
• Assessment of students as required
• Extra-curricular responsibilities: Training a guitar ensemble/group. Assistance with music concerts

Expected Hours of Work:

• Hours of work is between 10-25 hours a week
