Bopane Group Holdings is currently submitting a tender that requires the support of a team with railway services in the form of Perway Track Inspector/ Master. The team will be required to perform the below roles

Roles and responsibilitiesInspection and assessment

  • Perform regular, comprehensive inspections of railway tracks, including the rails, sleepers, ballast, and associated fixtures.
  • Visually and mechanically inspect components like rails for defects, wear, and damage, as well as check electrical wiring and equipment.
  • Use specialized equipment to test and detect rail flaws.
  • Assess the quality of both construction and maintenance work.
  • Determine the condition of the track and identify any potential problems or hazards.

Maintenance and repair

  • Oversee and ensure the safe and efficient execution of all track maintenance activities.
  • Direct and perform repairs on defective equipment, such as replacing worn or broken rails, switches, and ties.
  • Ensure the quality of the final product after maintenance or construction work is completed.
  • Conduct regular checks and servicing of track-laying equipment.
  • Maintain other track-related infrastructure like tunnels, embankments, bridges, and drainage systems.

Safety and compliance

  • Enforce strict railway safety regulations and standards.
  • Protect the track during maintenance by following established safety procedures and rules.
  • Ensure all work complies with occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Investigate train accidents and prepare detailed reports on findings.
  • Place safety signals, such as lanterns, during inspection and maintenance work.

Management and coordination

  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities within a specific area.
  • Supervise and manage directly assigned personnel.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor junior staff and trainees.
  • Communicate findings, plans, and issues with other departments, including Train Control Officials.
  • Account for and verify stores and tools in their charge.
  • If the company succeed in the award of the project, the successful candidates will be called in for interviews and onboarding and commencement of work as per the project requirements. The project term is expected to last for 36 months from the month of commencement.
