We're now looking for a strategic and hands-on Mechanical Engineering Manager (Millwright) to lead our Generator Division. This individual will not only ensure mechanical reliability and operational excellence but will also drive business growth, manage client relationships, and identify new opportunities to expand our market footprint

This is a pivotal leadership position within Inpower. You'll be responsible for the smooth running of all generator operations while steering the division toward sustainable growth and profitability. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Generator Division, ensuring optimal service delivery, maintenance schedules, and resource allocation.
• Oversee and refine operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance targets aligned with business objectives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and partners, driving repeat business and new opportunities.
• Prepare and present monthly operational and financial performance reports to senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation across systems, tools, and technical solutions.

• Plan, manage, and oversee generator installation and upgrade projects from initiation through completion.
• Conduct technical site investigations and produce reports with detailed recommendations.
• Manage contractors, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper stock control, inventory accuracy, and efficient use of materials and resources.

Technical Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Oversee and perform minor generator repairs and corrective maintenance, identifying root causes across multiple sites.
• Respond to generator faults and failures, both during and after hours, ensuring continuity of power supply.
• Ensure that newly installed remote monitoring systems and control equipment meet operational standards and performance benchmarks.

Fuel & Resource Management

• Manage diesel procurement and delivery logistics, ensuring accuracy in fuel tracking and supplier coordination.
• Provide detailed reconciliations of diesel purchases versus on-site consumption.
• Maintain vehicle refuelling records and ensure compliance with internal reporting standards.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (advantageous)
• Red Seal Trade Test Certificate as a Millwright (essential)
• Additional courses or certifications in Operations Management, Project Management, or Business Leadership would be beneficial

Experience and Knowledge:

• Proven experience in operations management, technical supervision, or engineering leadership, ideally within power generation or heavy industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience working with diesel generators, control systems, and related electrical-mechanical equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety compliance, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
• Highly proficient in fault-finding and troubleshooting, using systematic diagnostic techniques to resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.

• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with a deep understanding of generator systems and power equipment.
• Exceptional precision and attention to detail, ensuring every task is completed safely and correctly the first time.
• Ability to inspect, test, and evaluate machinery performance and component quality to identify potential issues early.
• Skilled in operating, maintaining, and controlling mechanical and electrical equipment in high-demand environments.
• Proactive in selecting and utilising the right tools and techniques for each job to maximise efficiency and safety.
• Strong commitment to health and safety protocols, with a disciplined, zero-compromise approach.
• Excellent time management and organisational ability to handle multiple maintenance priorities.
• High degree of adaptability and flexibility, with a hands-on approach to solving technical and operational challenges.

Specific Requirements

• Own reliable vehicle
• Valid driver's license is essential
• Valid driver's license with PrDP 'D' highly advantageous for the delivery of diesel
• The ability to reverse with a bowser/trailer will be required.
• Be flexible to work after hours in case of emergency
• Two written and positive references
• Clear health record
• Clear credit record
• No criminal record

Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi time between 06h30 and 18h30.
