We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead and oversee our Johannesburg imports and exports operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of cargo, while managing all daily warehouse and operational functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end import and export operational activities.
  • Ensure all documentation, customs processes, and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  • Lead, manage, and develop operational staff, including monitoring performance, attendance, discipline, and overtime.
  • Manage shift planning, staffing levels, and workforce allocation to meet operational demands.
  • Ensure accurate opening and closing of the warehouse, including safety checks, security, and daily readiness.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound cargo is processed efficiently and within required timelines.
  • Monitor and drive operational KPIs, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly targets are consistently met.
  • Prepare and present operational performance and updates during client meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with, and other service providers.
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and service delivery.
  • Manage operational budgets, cost control, and resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ, audit, and risk management requirements.
  • Resolve operational challenges, service delays, and escalations promptly.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) essential; tertiary qualification in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in operations management within imports/exports, logistics, or warehousing.
  • Strong knowledge of customs processes, port operations, and cargo handling.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, attendance control, and overtime management.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and high-demand environment.
  • Computer literate (MS Office; logistics/warehouse systems experience advantageous).
