Senior Java Engineers

Budget: Up to R130k p/m


Position Overview:

We have partnered with a UK-based FinTech expanding into South Africa, and we are looking for Senior Java Engineers. This company has been a global leader in financial technology for over 50 years, helping banks and lenders streamline loan and credit management processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality Java applications following best practices for maintainability and performance.
  • Design and implement scalable GraphQL APIs to support business requirements.
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor junior developers.
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests, following test-driven development practices.
  • Work closely with product managers and UX designers to align technical solutions with business objectives.


Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in software development.
  • Recent experience with Java programming, including object-oriented principles, multithreading, and exception handling.
  • Proficiency in the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security).
  • Experience with Hibernate or JPA for database interactions.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL and database optimisation techniques.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation skills.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledgeable in front-end frameworks such as React or Angular.
