SUPERVISOR ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS (INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR)
Supervise inbound support operations by ensuring effective Front Office correspondence management and work monitoring by overseeing timeous and accurate information provision.
Functional Management
- Compile the relevant Operating plan and procedures.
- Supervise the execution of the Engineering and Operations plan to meet capacity and requirements.
- Put measures in place to ensure that all buildings, machinery, equipment, plant-room and facilities are in alignment with the relevant health and safety regulations and all other legislative requirements.
- Provide subject matter expertise to the organisation regarding the status of all engineering, maintenance and BMS (Building Management Systems) data.
- Identify and motivate for new tools, machinery and/or equipment to ensure current and future capacity and capability.
- Ensure that the team is structured and optimised in a manner that is defined properly and aligned to policies, processes and workflow.
- Apply and adhere to the legal and procurement specifications relating to the development and acquisition of machinery, equipment and other capital infrastructure.
- Assist in ensuring that all relevant SABS premises are fully compliant with the associated local city by-laws and integrated into the municipal and community services environment.
- Accountable for the supervision of all routine, preventative and breakdown maintenance and ensure that all maintenance is prioritised and implemented according to the operational plan.
- Implement and maintain the approved facilities management systems and capital projects management environment.
- Ensure that relevant SABS facilities' (such as laboratories) conditions are maintained as per the relevant requirements.
- Regularly audit and ensure compliance of the facilities, equipment and machinery to the relevant legislation and standards.
- Participate and contribute towards the relevant internal and external audits.
- Ensure the implementation of energy efficiency methodologies and protocols.
- Supervise the continuous, around the clock operations and shift rosters of the plantroom.
- Supervise the chemical testing and treatment of boiler-feed water.
- Supervise the regular inspection of all plant equipment and ensure adjustments, repairs and services of equipment are carried out.
- Maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annual records and reports related to steam plant operations.
- Work according to approved schedules for all equipment maintenance requirements and the intervals for maintenance.
- Implement an approved records database (manual and electronic) relating to regulatory, legal and contractual documentation required for operating and maintaining all SABS equipment, plantroom and machinery etc.
- Conduct a review and provide input on the impact on maintenance activities and purchasing of new equipment relating to capital infrastructure and equipment demands.
- Ensure the effective supervision of all maintenance projects and resources including financial, material, people and milestones.
Risk and Compliance Management
- Ensure the mitigation of the business unit's risk profile through the application of fraud controls and risk prevention principles and implementing of sound governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks.
- Responsible for the coordination and maintenance of quality risk management in line with ISO/SANS, Accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and ensure that appropriate operational controls are implemented to address new requirements.
- Support and provide evidence to all internal and external audit, Accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance and enforcement of related Service Level Agreements to minimise business risk and ensure business continuity.
- Ensure adherence in the team to all relevant laws, policies and Standard Operating Procedures throughout the organisation.
People Management
- Proactively manage all resources in order to ensure that the operational plans are effectively executed.
- Maintain excellent human capital performance through employee empowerment, skills development and retention and succession planning within the team.
- Maintain an environment where employees respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all processes, procedures and practices.
- Contribute to diversity management initiatives.
- Implement a learning culture within scope of control.
- Execute performance management in line with the SABS policy within the team, and address performance challenges and develop subordinates to meet the expected performance standards.
- Provide support in recruiting and retaining key talent and other critically skilled personnel to manage internal processes and supervise the tactical, daily analytical work of the team.
Stakeholder Management
- Identify and mitigate internal systems and procedural barriers to enhance excellent customer service.
- Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organisation's reputation.
- Represent and participate in the organisation's committees and tasks teams when required.
- Convene, chair and attend meetings and present performance and business related information to relevant stakeholders when required.
- Actively liaise and build relationships with SABS clients and service providers so as to ensure that the service standards are met appropriately.
- Effectively manage customer complaint through timeous resolution and/or escalation as required.
- Analyze queries and develop mechanisms to proactively resolve common issues and share lessons learned across SABS.
- Ensure the documentation of all stakeholder engagements to ensure continuity for future engagements.
- Take ownership of technical queries (internal/external) for team as assigned and ensure effective resolution before deadline.
