JOB PURPOSE: The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within the Deboning Hall ensuring that production target, quality standards, safety protocols and regulatory compliance are consistently met. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail and a deep understanding of meat processing techniques and food safety standards.

REPORT TO: Production Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities associated with this role include but are not limited to the following:


• Plan and co-ordinate daily/weekly production schedules.


• Manage the day-to-day operations and assist in all areas of production to meet production targets.


• Report on daily yields and track line efficiencies.


• Identify training needs and provide appropriate training and coaching on the production floor.


• Maintain constant adherence to all company, customer and legal requirements regarding Food safety and aspects related to authenticity and Quality assurance.


• Maintain constant adherence to all company, customer and legal requirements regarding Food safety. Quality assurance and HR policies, procedures and labour legislation.


• Staff Supervision: Supervise and guide production staff, monitor their productivity, and counsel them on how to achieve optimal workflows.


• Participate in departmental meetings regarding product quality and processes when required.
• Ensure that the highest levels of Service, Quality and Workmanship are maintained.


• Drive a culture of excellent adherence to Health & Safety of all employees through the maintenance of a safe working environment.


• Understand Company Quality Policy statement and implement its requirements


• Ensure that all customer expectations in respect of quality are met and exceeded where possible
• Monitor line giveaway on weights and packaging waste


• Prepare reports on performance and progress and present them to senior managers

EXPERIENCE:


• Minimum 3 to 5 years' supervisory experience in a meat or food processing plant, preferably in a unionised environment.


• Experience with regulatory compliance.

FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:


• Minimum National Diploma/Degree or equivalent


• Preferred: HACCP or equivalent food safety certificate

• Strong leadership and team building capabilities.


• Good written and verbal communication skills.


• Excellent Team player.


• Skilled in conflict resolution.


• Experience in conducting training.


• Effective delegation and task prioritisation.


• Computer skills in Microsoft word and Excel essential.


• Planning and organisation skills to be able run and monitor the production process.


• Ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems.


• Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality.


• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, and managers.


• Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines.


• Ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.


• Promote a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.


• Maintain high morale and discipline in a fast-paced environment.
