Role Description

Provide agronomic, technical, sales and marketing support on Sugar cane, Macadamia and some other crops (banana, maize, berries, etc.) to clients. Too improve the profitability of the customers and Kynoch using crop specific products as well as technology that enhances efficiencies.

  • Develop new prospects and interact with existing growers to increase sales of agricultural inputs in order to meet and exceed sales goals. Manage sales in order to meet profit margin goals
  • Assure customer satisfaction of products including, but not limited to on time and accurate delivery and quality of product
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the sales of proprietary products
  • Consult with growers on agricultural issues and prescribe appropriate actions to resolve issues. Resolve issues associated with adverse product results
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for large scale, influential grower trials
  • Work to connect in food industry input as needed
  • Soil health sampling program for key trials
  • Key trial visits and product training (e.g., mixing, blending, and agitation demonstration)
  • Work with Ag Science for final reporting
  • Update and maintain Technical Sales Sheets with annual update
  • Manage and monitor product performance guarantee program enrolment within territory and reporting for large grower field trials.
  • Serve as technical product support across portfolio for territory
  • Speak at regional meetings when needed (virtual and in person)
  • Identify novel product compatibilities and uses in the field for further testing
  • Responsible for larger scale, influential grower trials.
  • At all times adhere strictly to the Code of Conduct as published by SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) which Registered Agriculturists are required to adhere to.
  • Ensure own professional growth and learning through earning CPD (Continuous Professional Development) points as required to retain Professional Status at SACNASP.
  • Self-study and continuous learning to stay informed on developments in agriculture and the fertiliser industry specifically.
  • SACNASP membership mandatory requirement for role (to be completed within twelve months of starting role)
  • Would be required to travel the Lowveld area, including Tzaneen, Hoedspruit; Malalaan; Barberton; etc.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Mandatory to have a B.Sc Degree in Horticulture / Agronomy / Soil Science / Plant production from a reputable university
  • Mandatory to have a valid driver's license
  • Mandatory to have your own vehicle
  • Any experiences in the citrus/ macadamia industry would be beneficial
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an agricultural sales environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Strong Analytical skills. Problem solving skills. Entrepreneurial skills
