WATER AND SANITATION Senior GIS Technician

Requirements

  • 3-year National Diploma in GIS or related field.
  • 2 - 5 years' relevant post qualifying experience required.
  • Proven proficiency in Geographic Information Systems

(ESRI ArcGIS desktop software) and MS Office.

  • Knowledge of GIS, relational databases, cartography and

data analysis.

  • License: Code B / EB
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Registration with SAGC as GISc Technician or Technologist

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide an efficient GIS support function to Reticulation

management Branch, associated with map production, data

capturing, data analysis and technical support.

  • Compile professional cartographic maps and map books.
  • Capture, edit and maintain datasets in geodatabases.
  • Respond to public enquiries by providing maps and data extracts.
  • Manage the virtual drawing office by indexing and filing electronic

engineering drawings.

  • Provide GIS-related technical support to the branch.
  • Capturing and monitoring of detailed asset type and location

information of all water and sanitation infrastructure.

  • Maintain spatial and non-spatial attributes of database entries.
  • Liaising with contractors and other members of the operational

teams.
