We have a vacancy for an innovative junior mechanical design engineer. The primary responsibility of this individual will be the design of new agricultural equipment and/or the improvement of existing designs. Innovative thinking is of critical importance as well as a strong mechanical background. This person will be part of a bigger design team and therefore will need to be able to work well in a team environment.

Qualification, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc/B.Eng - NQF8).
  • Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of the casting process and the design of cast items.
  • Farming background and or experience will be beneficial.
  • Proficient in 3D Computer Aided Design (Solid Edge is advantageous).
  • FEA simulation experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • New design of machinery, components and assemblies in 3D CAD.
  • Improvement of existing products and designs.
  • Creation of production information and other tasks relating to the design process.
  • Perform calculation to validate designs.
  • FEA analysis and validation on structural components.
  • Design and development of castings as part of product responsibilities.
