Role Purpose

The role will primarily serve as the organisation's go-to strategic facilitator, enabling high-quality conversations, alignment, and decision-making across Momentum Group. They will design and facilitate Group Exco and BU Exco workshops and ensure that complex dialogues are well-structured, productive, and insight-rich. Additionally, the Strategy Manager role will also support the broader Group Strategy mandate through analytical work, insight generation, research, and contribution to enterprise-wide strategic deliverables. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who is energised by facilitation and enabling leaders to think clearly and align around strategy.

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years' work experience in corporate/business strategy or management consulting.

  • Post-graduate degree in one of the following: finance, engineering, statistics, mathematics, business science.

  • Insurance / financial services industry experience (advantageous).

  • Experience in a top-tier consulting house (advantageous).

  • Experience with design thinking, systems thinking, or co-creation methodologies (advantageous).

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic facilitation (primary focus)

  • Serve as the go-to facilitator for all strategy-related workshops across the Group.

  • Design, prepare and facilitate sessions such as:

    • Strategic planning engagements
    • BU strategy development and alignment workshops
    • Group Exco strategic conversations
  • Manage group dynamics, stakeholder expectations and workshop outcomes.

  • Apply a wide toolkit of facilitation techniques (strategic choice framing, design thinking, divergent/convergent thinking, prioritisation methods, etc.).

  • Build end-to-end workshop processes that enable structured and transparent thinking.

  • Develop templates, canvases, frameworks, tools and pre-read materials for strategic engagements.

  • Ensure workshop processes are aligned to Group Strategy methodologies and the formal planning processes.

  • Introduce and evolve facilitation best practices across the Strategy team.

Strategic planning process support

  • Lead key components of the formal strategic planning process, particularly the bottom-up facilitation phase.

  • Support the sequencing, pacing and integration of BU engagement loops.

  • Prepare synthesised outputs used in Exco and Board strategy discussions.

Strategic analysis, insights and synthesis

  • Conduct analysis on market dynamics and emerging trends.

  • Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into structured strategic narratives.

  • Support the development of strategy updates, board reports and other group-level strategy reporting requirements.

  • Analyse BU strategies, identify gaps and opportunities, and integrate relevant inputs into the group view.

Stakeholder relationship management

  • Build trusted relationships with:
    • BU CEOs and Strategy Leads
    • Group Exco
    • Group Support Functions
    • External partners
  • Act as a strategic partner to BUs during facilitation-led engagements.
