We're looking for a skilled Art Director to join our team, someone who can elevate ideas, lead visual communication, and bring strong conceptual and executional design abilities to our studio. You should be passionate about creative work and dedicated to your craft.

What you'll do

  • Work closely together with a senior copywriter within a tightly-knit team that's competitive, yet collaborative. Our agency champions sustainability, responsibility and innovation.

  • Lead the visual execution of campaigns and creative concepts across digital, social, and environmental media.

  • Oversee design development from concept through to final production, guiding outputs, layout, mood, typography, look and feel, and brand consistency.

  • Art direct content production: including photography, video shoots, AI-generated assets, and working with internal and external creative partners.

  • Collaborate closely with our creative directors, your copywriters, designers and the account management team to produce work that is thoughtful, crafted and strategically aligned.

  • Present creative work clearly and confidently, both internally and to clients.

What You'll Bring

  • 5 –10 years' experience as an Art Director in an award-winning agency or strong design-focused studio environment.

  • A passion for bringing the right solutions to brands that require a more considered and strategic approach.

  • A disdain for doing "the same old thing" at a "big old agency", coupled with a hunger to make South Africa a better place through your design and communication.

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

  • Proven experience working across digital (social campaigns, web layout, editorial, OOH, brand campaigns, etc.) and even design projects.

  • Experience in art directing and overseeing production processes (retouching, printing, AV editing, shoot prep, etc.).

  • Strong conceptual thinking and a clear understanding of how visual storytelling supports brand strategy.

  • A talent for progressing brand identities and a critical eye when it comes to adhering to existing brand CI.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates aesthetic sensitivity, versatility, and well-executed, real-world work.

  • Proactive and able to recognise opportunities within your portfolio of brands.

Highly Beneficial Skills

Working knowledge of AI tools for concept development and asset generation.

Experience in motion graphics (After Effects or similar).

Confidence directing photographers, videographers, editors, stylists, illustrators, and other creative collaborators.

Personal Qualities

Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple deadlines at once.

Clear communicator and collaborative team player.

Passionate about craft, continuous growth, and pushing creative standards.

Location Requirement

This is a Cape Town-based role. A hybrid work model is in place, with in-studio time expected each week.
