The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a dynamic team in Cape Town. This role involves full financial oversight — from reporting and compliance to project accounting and cost control — within a project-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting complex, multi-phase projects, with strong expertise in foreign exchange management and global tax compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/GAAP.
  • Manage the general ledger, reconciliations, and financial close processes.
  • Oversee tax compliance (VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax) and liaise with auditors.
  • Monitor and report on WIP, revenue recognition, and project profitability.
  • Track and manage project costs, accruals, and variances against budgets.
  • Partner with project teams to provide financial insights and support expenditure control.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, invoicing, payments, and collections.
  • Handle multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange risk.
  • Ensure ERP data accuracy and support automation, system upgrades, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (CA(SA), Professional Accountant (SA), CIMA, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years' accounting experience, ideally within Engineering, Procurement or Construction (EPC) industries.
  • Strong experience in foreign exchange and a solid understanding of global tax requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of project accounting, WIP reporting, and cost management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Full-time, office-based role in Cape Town (open to relocation assistance for the ideal candidate)
  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.

SALARY IS MARKET RELATED AND COMMENSURATE BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Pay: From R70 000,00 per month
