Dental Receptionist

Our client is a specialist dentall practice in Sandton (Gauteng) and they are looking for a Dental Receptionist. This is a permanent position with working hours 07:30 - 16:30, Mondays - Fridays. The position is available from January 2026.
Minimum Requirements- Grade 12 or equivalent; further training in dental or medical administration is beneficial.
- Previous experience in a dental or healthcare reception role is preferred
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures.
- Confidence using dental practice management systems (e.g., SOE, Dentally, or similar).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- An understanding and competence in basic accounting
Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients with a kind and professional manner, helping them feel at ease from the moment they arrive
- Managing appointments by scheduling, confirming, and adjusting bookings to suit patient needs and practice availability.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to queries with empathy and efficiency, and able to direct them to the appropriate team member.
- Maintaining patient records accurately and confidentially using dental practice software.
- Assisting with payment processing, including collecting fees, issuing receipts, and explaining costs clearly and respectfully
- Supporting patients with forms and documentation, ensuring they understand what's required and offering help where needed.
- Liaising with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely preparation for treatments.
- Keeping the reception area tidy and welcoming, with up-to-date reading materials and a calm, professional environment.
- Handling sensitive information with discretion and in line with data protection and patient confidentiality standards.
- Supporting patients who may be medically or emotionally vulnerable, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all.
- Contributing to a positive team dynamic by communicating proactively with colleagues and supporting a respectful workplace culture
- Managing basic accounting book keeping , monthly creditors and debtors list
