Description
  • Teaching isiXhosa in the SP & FET department.
  • Teaching isiXhosa at honours level and supervise honours students.
  • Curriculum development and other learning materials.
  • Supervising students on teaching practice.
  • Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
  • Academic administration, development, and administration.
  • Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge.
  • Assessment and Quality Assurance.
  • Good work ethics and ability to manage work.
  • Community engagement.
  • Mentoring and support of students (and staff).
  • Networking with schools and other networks.
  • Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and on-line learning).
  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.


Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • A relevant Master's degree in isiXhosa, or Education related isiXhosa.
  • An Honours degree in isiXhosa, or Education related isiXhosa.
  • IsiXhosa as a major subject at undergraduate level.
  • A relevant teaching qualification with isiXhosa as a major (preferable at secondary school level).
  • Two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience in SP & FET at tertiary level or five (5) years' relevant teaching experience at school level.
  • Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching isiXhosa.
