Edge Growth is looking for an exceptional
Investment Associate
to join our Ventures team within one of our developmental fund mandates. This role offers rare end-to-end exposure to the full deal-making cycle, high-quality mentorship, and the opportunity to help scale high-potential SMEs that move our economy forward.

What You'll Do

As an Investment Associate, you will play a central role in the deal team by contributing to all parts of the investment lifecycle:

Origination & Pipeline Development

  • Build networks and relationships to source high-quality, scalable SME opportunities.
  • Manage a pipeline across multiple transaction stages

Deal Evaluation & Due Diligence

  • Conduct market analysis, business model assessment, competitive positioning and risk analysis
  • Perform financial modelling, valuations, scenario testing and company analysis
  • Develop high-level investment theses using Edge's methodology

Investment Committee Preparation

  • Lead a due-diligence workstreams and compile Investment Committee reports
  • Present investment opportunities to senior decision-makers

Deal Execution

  • Support negotiations, structuring and the legal closing process
  • Ensure seamless handover to our Post Investment and Growth Support teams for ongoing value creation

This is a high-ownership role suited to someone who enjoys solving commercial challenges and driving transactions to completion.

Requirements

  • South African citizen
  • A relevant graduate degree (Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Actuarial or similar)
  • CA(SA), CFA or a relevant Master's degree is a strong advantage
  • 2–4 years in equity, mezzanine or debt investing, OR

  • Strong analytical experience in investment banking, venturing, corporate finance, consulting or SME management
