Logimeter is looking for a
Junior Voice & Network Infrastructure Engineer
to join our growing Infrastructure team. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and improving the systems and voice infrastructure that power our business. You will support both development teams and the wider organisation, ensuring performance, stability, and availability across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain and optimise voice and network infrastructure.
  • Support Freeswitch or Asterisk-based systems, including scripting and call-flow troubleshooting.
  • Perform daily Linux operations, service checks, and routine system maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot network-related issues (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, SSL/TLS).
  • Manage AWS environments, especially EC2, IAM, and Route 53.
  • Support web stack operations (Apache, Django, mod_wsgi) and diagnose service issues.
  • Participate in CI/CD workflows, version control, and GitLab operations.
  • Analyse logs from servers, applications, and monitoring tools to proactively identify issues.
  • Assist with PostgreSQL queries, basic administration, and role management.
  • Apply and update security policies across Linux, AWS, and MikroTik firewalls.
  • Document processes, incidents, and system improvements.

Core Skills (Must-Have)

Voice & SIP Fundamentals

  • SIP School/CCNA Voice equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Freeswitch or Asterisk
  • Experience with LUA, Perl, or SIP-based scripting

Linux & Shell (Daily Ops)

  • Comfortable in Debian/Ubuntu CLI
  • Familiar with systemd, journalctl, netstat, lsof, top/htop
  • Can write/read basic Bash scripts
  • Understanding of cronjobs and automation basics

Networking Fundamentals

  • Strong grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SSL/TLS
  • Diagnostic tools: ping, traceroute, dig, tcpdump
  • MikroTik experience: NAT, policy routing, firewall rules, walled garden

AWS Operations

  • EC2: launch, SSH, and server lifecycle management
  • Route 53: DNS changes and troubleshooting
  • IAM: least privilege, access keys, roles

Web Stack Familiarity

  • Understanding of Apache2 virtual hosts, mod_wsgi, mod_ssl
  • Can troubleshoot and interpret Apache & Django logs

Infrastructure Tools & Concepts

  • GitLab: clone, commit, merge, push/pull
  • Understanding of pipelines, runners, PR workflows
  • Experience with 365 or Google Workspace
  • SPF, DKIM, DMARC knowledge

Monitoring & Logging

  • Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, CloudWatch, SNMP
  • Can read logs from Apache, PostgreSQL, systemd services

Basic Database Skills

  • Able to connect to PostgreSQL shell
  • Knowledge of schemas, roles, indexes
  • Understanding of replication concepts and backup procedures

Security Skills

  • Linux UFW
  • MikroTik firewall configuration
  • AWS ACLs and security policies
  • Exposure to endpoint or mail security platforms (Bitdefender beneficial)

Desirable (Nice-to-Have)

  • CCNA Routing & Switching or equivalent
  • Python fundamentals
  • Advanced Bash scripting
  • Experience with cron automation
