This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.
This is a Fixed Term role
Job DescriptionJob responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain the continuity of pump operations
- Oversee the operation, maintenance and installation of pumps, pipelines and dewatering system.
- Supervise routine pump maintenance.
- Coordinate servicing, repairs and part replacements to prevent downtime.
- Record daily water volumes, pump hours and breakdowns.
- Enforce adherence to health and safety standards
- Ensure compliance with Mine health and safety act.
- Supervise pump attendants and ensure that a safe working environment is maintained.
- Provide guidance on pump operation, maintenance and safety protocols
- Organize shift rotations and ensure adequate resource for continuous pump operations.
- Conduct inspections on pumps, pump lines and valves.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
- Conduct safety briefings and job risk assessments.
This role is at a Band 9 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.
Qualifications- Grade 12
- Certified competent as Pump Team Supervisor
Experience, Technical knowledge skills
- 2–3 years of experience as a Pump Operator
- Pump operation: Proficiency in operating various pump types (e.g., centrifugal, positive displacement, submersible).
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair: Ability to diagnose and fix issues with components like seals, bearings, and valves.
- Safety procedures: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout, proper use of PPE, and confined space entry.
- Good communication skills.
