POSITION INFO:
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-orientated Inventory Cost Accountant to take ownership of the stock control, variance analysis and maintenance system administration



Key Responsibilities

  • Stock Control and Reconciliation:
  • Daily oversight and validation of stock files.
  • Manage invetory for raw materials, finished goods and maintenance related spares.
  • Coordinate and validate monthly stock takes.
  • Investigate and resolve stock variances across inbound, production, finished goods and maintenance.
  • Ensure accurate recording of stock movements (receipts, issues, transfers adjustments).
  • Maintain and optimise Syspro for inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Variance analysis and Cost Management:
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of stock variances and identify root causes.
  • Implement corrective action to reduce future discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting for all inventory items.
  • Maintenance System Administration:
  • Oversee implementation and ongoing management of the OnKey maintenance system.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of spare parts, maintenance schedules and equipment history.
  • Train and support maintenance administrative staff for consistent system usage.
  • Reconcile costs between OnKey and Syspro.
  • Manage stock requisitions, approvals and ensure cost alignment wit inventory levels.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Serve as a central liaison between Finance, Operations and Maintenance.
  • Promote transparency and accountability in stock and maintenance processes.
  • Foster trust and open communication, especially when addressing sensitive variance issues.

Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education /Qualifications: National Diploma in Cost Management Accounting / BCom Accounting Degree
  • Experience: Minimu 5 years experience in manufacturing and inventory control. Proficiency in Syspro ERP system (preferred), Experience with maintenance system implementation and administration (OnKey or similar)

  • Skills and competencies:

  • Deep understanding of stack control processes, including raw materials, WIP(work in progress), and finished goods

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail: Precision in data entry, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Communication: Clear and professional communication across departments, especially when addressing sensitive issues.
  • Collaboration: Working effectively with finance, operations and maintenance teams.
