1. Role Purpose

The FX / International Payments Tester is responsible for validating the end-to-end functionality, accuracy, compliance, and stability of FX trading systems, cross-border payment platforms, and SWIFT/ISO20022 payment flows. The role ensures all FX pricing, deal capture, settlement workflows, and international payment transactions function correctly across multiple African markets, regulatory frameworks, and banking systems.

**2. Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Testing of FX & International Payments**

• Test FX deal lifecycle: rate request, pricing, booking, confirmation, and settlement.
• Validate international payment flows including SWIFT MT, ISO20022 MX, correspondent banking, Nostro/Vostro flows, and cross-border remittances.
• Ensure accuracy of currency conversions, spreads, rate feeds, charges, and settlement instructions.
• Test FX order routing, liquidity provider interactions, pricing engines, and market data feeds.

Functional, Integration & Regression Testing

• Execute functional testing across multiple systems: Treasury, Core Banking, AML/KYC, Fraud, Channels.
• Test integration between FX systems and external interfaces (SWIFT, PAPSS, SARB, cross-border networks).
• Validate integration with customer channels (mobile, online banking, corporate portals).
• Perform full regression cycles after enhancements, upgrades, and ISO20022 releases

Test Design & Documentation

• Develop detailed test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts for FX and cross-border payments.
• Validate SWIFT MT/MX formatting rules and ensure compliance with ISO20022 schemas.
• Document defects, test results, traceability matrices, and compliance evidence.

Data Management & Test Execution

• Prepare test data for multi-currency, multi-country transactions.
• Execute test cycles across SIT, UAT, NFT, and production verification tests (PVT).
• Validate reporting outputs, confirmations, audit logs, and reconciliation.
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance in all test cases.

Defect Management & Quality Assurance

• Log and track defects through to resolution via JIRA or ALM tools.
• Work with developers, business analysts, and architects to analyse root cause.
• Support retesting, regression, and release validation.
• Ensure full sign-off for new functionality and production readiness.

**3. Required Skills & Experienc

Technical Skills**

• Experience testing
  FX trading platforms
  , Treasury systems, or Payments systems.
• Strong understanding of SWIFT MT messages (MT103, MT202, MT300, MT304) and ISO20022 schemas.
• Experience testing APIs, microservices, and integration flows.
• Ability to read and validate XML, JSON, and transaction payloads.
• Exposure to SQL for data validation and reconciliation.
• Experience with ITSM & testing tools (JIRA, ALM, Confluence, Postman, SoapUI).

Domain Knowledge

• FX trade lifecycle: pricing, deal capture, settlement, confirmations.
• Cross-border payments flows and settlement processes.
• Correspondent banking, Nostro/Vostro, FX conversion fees & routing.
• African regulatory environments and currency controls.
• AML, sanctions screening, and compliance processes for international transactions.

4. Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification highly advantageous.
• SWIFT, ISO20022, or Treasury-related training/certifications are an advantage

• Experience in high-volume, low-latency payments environments.
• Experience testing fraud, AML, sanctions, or compliance workflows.
